Beginning blends
We have practiced a lot of beginning sounds but the ending sounds in words are important too. Sometimes it is harder to hear ending sounds. You many have to pronounce the sound very carefully or exaggerate the sound. Here is a fun activity- use a picture book to ask your child to name the ending sounds in words e.g. dog the ending sound is /g/. See how many ending sounds they can name!

Word Play
Explain that you are going to say four words. Three of the words will begin with the same sound. One will not. Ask your child to tell you which word does not belong. You can model the answer for them as practice.

Sing or say the alphabet whenever and wherever you can- bedtime, bath time, while cooking, etc. Make sure your child is aware of each letter! So often "lmnop" is lumped together and the child does not separate them. Be sure to listen closely so you hear the five different letters.
